Is it possible to freeze climate change?

Chamonix, France

The average temperature in the Northern Alps is increasing twice as fast as the rest of the northern hemisphere, and the impact of this severe change is already clearly visible, both on the physical environment and its wildlife.

Loris (@lorismonteux) journeys to Chamonix to meet with researchers Hilary and Brad and learn about how mobile technology is finding new ways to help preserve the natural wonder of the Mont Blanc region and the thousands of species living there.

The Orange Group’s partnership with the Centre de Recherches sur les Écosystèmes d’Altitude in Chamonix aims to provide technology alongside the support of their employee volunteers for one of the world’s most urgent and vital science projects. The project was also recently awarded the UN’s 2017 Momentum for Change prize.

Making its way around the world, the Case For Change is packed with everything people need to tell their stories on what mobile operators globally are doing to tackle the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Orange’s work in the Alps contributes to SDGs 3, 4, 10 and 16 by researching ways to tackle climate change.
