Connecting the past with the future in South Korea

Cheonghak, South Korea

Cheonghak is one of the most isolated regions in South Korea, and for years this traditional farming village was less connected than most. After learning about local culture, Seoulian meets up with Ok-shik Kim to learn how mobile technology has allowed people to connect, communicate and even attend candlemaking classes.

The residents of Cheonghak discovered that connectivity can connect the past with the future, allowing the village to teach centuries-old traditions to more people through the internet. The village discovered that by connecting with the world around them, the more the world can connect with their traditions.

Making its way around the world, the Case For Change is packed with everything people need to tell their stories on what mobile operators globally are doing to tackle the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). KT’s GiGA initiatives contribute to SDGs 4, 9 and 10 by bringing connectivity to remote regions of South Korea and allowing them to connect with the world around them.
