Barcelona is one of the biggest football teams in the world, and the city is one of one of the most passionate. The players are heroes to many young kids – but unfortunately for some children, long-term illness and hospitalisation forces them to miss out.
Raquel and Sergio from @roadtowild learn that Eric Abidal – former Barça legend – set up a foundation to help children in these unimaginable circumstances, by giving them a football experience like no other.
It’s enabled by mobile and brought to life by a clever little robot called Pol. Eric guides the robot around Camp Nou, while the hospital-bound child is able to control it from their room, and see and hear what the robot sees.
Watch as Sergio and Raquel head to the San Juan de Dios Hospital to meet FC Barça-loving Adonis who, through the robot, gets a tour of the stadium and the chance to meet some of his heroes – including Messi, Suarez, and Coutinho.
Making its way around the world, the Case For Change is packed with everything people need to tell their stories on what mobile operators globally are doing to tackle the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both the Eric Abidal Foundation and the Barça Foundation’s work in Spain contributes to SDGs 3 and 10 by helping to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people through their mobile-enabled experience.
